MEE, JosephI live in Brisbane , Australia I am interested in researching Joseph Mee, born about 1851 He was an engine driver on the Great Northern Line supposed to have driven express trains. retired about April 1921. He was my great grandfather. My mother told me - "Retiring really broke his heart for he loved those steam engines and he died 2 months later" Before i emigrated to Australia as a lad in 1958, I worked for British Rail as a "passed cleaner' and did many firing shifts on a range of locomotives at Stratford MPD (East London) and Kentish Town MPD serving St Pancras station As a cleaner, i loved it when we had to clean and prepare one of those fantastic Brittannia's. What a beautiful looking engine . I haven't been back to England since then. Now this year I will be visiting the UK and hope to visit some historic railway sightsand associated with my early experience and to research my Great grandfather. Victor CarrALL

MONKSI am researching my family the ‘’Monks’’ of Warrington. My grandfather John Monks was a Coach Painter. An old friend of my fathers’ sent me a letter many years ago following my fathers demise in which he told me of an Eddie Monks whose father and my Grandfather worked on the Cheshire Lines Railway together with their sons, about 10 of them altogether. I am trying to find any staff records of workers as I know my Great Grandfather was a foreman plate-layer for this company, I would be grateful for any help as I live in Spain. Mrs icia A NichollsALL
