WALTHEN, Charles SamuelThe specific ancestor I am looking into is Charles Samuel Wathen from Gloucester. Born 1885 in Gloucester, Died 1st April 1952. I have been told that he was a Wheel Tapper. I am not exactly sure which railway company he worked for but after the 1923 grouping he would have almost certainly been based at Horton Road Shed (sometimes know as Tramways Junction) in Gloucester working for the GWR. If he was working for the LMS, he would have been based at Barnwood Shed, Gloucester. Before then, I really do not know which company he would have worked for, but again it is almost certain to have been Great Western. Charles Wathen married Edith Maria Goode of Highleadon, Gloucester (B 17/4/1880, D 27/11/1974) on 17/4/1910 at St Luke Church in Gloucester. He had 2 daughters, Annie Edith & Doris of whom Annie Edith was my Grandmother. I appreciate I have very little to go on, but would appreciate any help as to trace details of Charles Wathen’s life on the railways as I am a railway enthusiast myself but unable to work on the railways on eyesight grounds Mark Hazell1880-1952
